Der Spermatozoen-Antikörper-Latexagglutinationstest dem Nachweis von Antikörpern gegen Spermatozoen in Seminalplasma und humanem Serum.

Alpha-Fetoprotein wird normalerweise während der fötalen und neonatalen Entwicklungsphase durch die Leber, den Dottersack und in kleineren Konzentrationen im gastrointestinalen Trakt hergestellt. Während des zweiten Lebensjahres nehmen die AFP-Konzentrationen erheblich ab, danach werden normalerweise nur Spuren von AFP in Serum nachgewiesen. Erhöhte AFP-Werte treten bei diversen bösartigen Krankheiten, wie z. B. hepatocellularen Karzinomen, Hodenkrebs und gelegentlich auch bei anderen Krankheiten endodermalen Ursprungs auf. Bei Personen mit einem erhöhtem Leberkrebsrisko wurde AFP zum Nachweis von Tumoren im Frühstadium genutzt. Studien von Patienten mit großen Leber-Metastasen oder mit virulenter Hepatitis haben außerdem auf einen leicht erhöhten oder einen beständigen AFP-Pegel hingewiesen. In Gegenden mit einem erhöhten Leberkrebsrisiko haben Screenings auf AFP zu der Entdeckung vieler Tumore in frühen Stadien geführt. Der Nachweis erhöhter AFP-Werte kann auch zur Bestimmung von fötalen offenen Neuralrohrdefekten genutzt werden.
