HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc., founded in 2001, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative dressings and wound care technologies to control bleeding and infection resulting from trauma or surgery. HemCon® Bandages are designed for use by first responders in military, emergency medical and other out-of-hospital environments where the rapid control of bleeding is of critical importance. Traumatic hemorrhage is a leading cause of death in the United Sates and there are few medical products available to treat these types of wounds. Using a new form of biotechnology HemCon began to develop and manufacture a revolutionary cost effective hemorrhage control dressing, the HemCon® Bandage. Because of its innovative technology and proven effectiveness, the bandage represents a breakthrough in biotechnology as well as emergency medicine. The HemCon® Bandage is truly unique: it is durable, easy to use and capable of controlling massive hemorrhaging.

Since the HemCon® Bandage first started being used by the U.S. military in 2003, it has changed the way U.S. service men and women are trained to treat battlefield injuries. Today HemCon has stretched beyond the U.S. Military and has distributed its product to military forces around the world as well as to civilian health professionals. Its original bandage has improved the way these groups operate and, as a result, HemCon has been actively developing new ways to employ its unique lifesaving technology in order to enhance treatment in all areas of the medical profession. Recently the company received FDA clearance for a dental dressing to be used in oral extractions.
